A Friday night wreck blocked Interstate 8 near In-ko-Pah.

The accident occurred at about 7:45 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 8 by the In-ko-Pah off ramp. Apparently a big rig went out of control, ran off the roadway and slammed into the side of the mountain. The accident blocked the freeway as emergency responders were on scene and then for several hours as clean up continued. One person was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment. The accident remains under investigation.
