Customs and Borer Protection (CBP) officers recently seized over 1,300 pounds of methamphetamine at the Calexico Cargo Facility.
On March 12, at about 6:15 a.m., A tractor-trailer was referred to secondary inspection where non-intrusive imaging technology identified irregularities in the area of the fuel tanks. A CBP K-9 team alerted to the presence of narcotics and an investigation led to the discovery of methamphetamine in the big rigs diesel fuel.
On March 13, CBP officers referred a tractor-trailer to secondary inspection where non-intrusive technology revealed anomalies in the cab area of the big rig. An inspection led to the discovery of seven duffel bags crammed with a total of nearly 705 pounds of methamphetamine. Both drivers were turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
