Imperial County has received $10 million as part of the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 state budget.
The money, secured by State Senator Steve Padilla, will directly support Imperial County's efforts to advance infrastructure, strategic policies, regional development, education, and community engagement associated with the Lithium Valley Strategic Plan. Major investments will be directed at bridge repair and road paving, including the demolition of the Vail Canal timber bridge, concrete bridge repair over the New River, and road paving to expand accessibility in the region. Community and Stakeholder Engagement will be addressed with new initiatives to provide additional educational resources for K - 12 students. There will also be expanded stakeholder engagement to reach Imperial County residents with information about the development process of Lithium Valley.
