A two vehicle accident resulted in the death of one of the drivers.

The accident occurred at about 9:42 a.m. Thursday on State Route 115 and Boyd Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer was westbound on Boyd Road and then ran into the path of a tractor-trailer rig that was northbound on 115. Both vehicles overturned due to the force of the collision. According to the CHP, the driver of the Blazer, a 34-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt. The 62-year-old man driving the big rig, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation. The California Highway Patrol reminds motorists that regular use of seat belts is the single most effective way to reduce injuries and fatalities in motor vehicle collisions.
