There will be a DUI Checkpoint in Brawley Friday.

The Brawley Police Department will conduct the Driving Under the Influence Checkpoint between 7:00 p.m. and Midnight. at an undisclosed location. Checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. . According to Brawley Police, the primary purpose of the checkpoint are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road. Chief Jimmy Duran said, " Any preventive measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety". Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Public Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
