San Diego Gas And Electric says the outages are due to the Santa Ana winds. The outages will occur throughout San Diego County, Including Jacumba, Campo, Boulevard and the rest of the East Mountain area. SDG&E uses the planned outages to keep power lines from arching in the high winds. If arching lines touch, the sparks could cause brush fires.
