Firefighting efforts in Los Angeles County have received more help.

Mexico has responded with 72 highly trained firefighters and emergency personnel. The contingent arrived late Saturday and were expected to be on the fire lines almost immediately. According to reports, the firefighters will form hand crews to assist in the firefighting operations, augmenting more than 14,000 personnel already on the fire line.

The California Office of Emergency Services requested the City of Calexico provide a Spanish-speaking driver to assist with the coordination between local crews and the Mexican contingent. And an Imperial County Fire Department has deployed a Battalion Chief and Captain to assist in the Los Angeles fires as Technical Specialists. Two firefighters from El Centro were also deployed as part of the assistance in essential technical services.
