Piickleball is gaining fans in the Imperial Valley.
The Imperial Valley Pickleball Association (IVPA) is working to promote the sport. The goal of the IVPA is to build more courts to accommodate the approximately 170 players in the Valley. According to IVPA, there are four Pickleball facilities in El Centro and one at the Lions Center in Brawley. The association says their first project is to refurbish the old tennis courts at Meserve Park in Brawley. The courts have been in disarray for years and are said to be unusable. The City of Brawley has said that they do not have the resources to to take on the project. This led to the formation of the Imperial Valley Pickleball Association, a not-for-profit organization. Donations may be made to IVPA at 1100 Panno Street, Brawley.
