The Imperial Irrigation District is asking for the public's help following vandalism in OHV areas.

The vandalism has occurred at some of IID's remote telecommunications towers in the local desert. The district is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to prosecution of vandals who have caused tens of thousands of dollars in damages at remote sites frequented by Off Highway Vehicle users. The district identified two major incidents, one occurring Friday, November 15 and another on Saturday, November 16, in the Superstition Mountain OHV area. Two suspects, who appear to be either teenagers or young adults on dirt bikes, caused $140,000 worth of damage when they broke through a fence and smashed video cameras, damaged an air conditioner, a generator and several other technical components at the site on November 15. IID teams responded to the site and made immediate fixes, but were called back the following day when the same two suspects returned, causing further damage. Images of the suspects were captured before the cameras were destroyed and clearly show the pair and their off-road dirt bikes.  The IID said that several other incidents of vandalism have recently occurred as did a suspicious fire was reported in the area. Images of the vandals are available on the IID Facebook page.
