The Imperial County District Attorney has been awarded a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety.
The $200,000 grant will be used to support a specialized prosecution team that handles alcohol and drug impaired driving cases. District Attorney George Marquez said the specialized prosecution team will also partner with the Statewide Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Training Program to train other prosecutors and investigators and collaborate with law enforcement agencies on best practices for handling and managing driving under the influence cases.
This is the second year that the Imperial County District Attorney has received funding from the Office of Traffic Safety for this program. Last year, the prosecution team filed 794 DUI cases.
