A car was extensively damaged after hitting a Desert Big Horn Sheep.

The accident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday on eastbound Interstate 8 west of Mt. Springs Road. The driver of the car was not injured but the sheep sustained fatal injuries. One lane of the highway was partially blocked by debris. The remains of the sheep was handled by California Fish and Game.
