. During the event the 19th annual Jim Kuhn Memorial Farmer of the Year award was presented to Marc McBroom. It was presented in recognition to McBroom's leadership in citrus and broader agriculture industries, his dedication to protecting and promoting Imperial Valley agriculture, his philanthropy to the community and his devotion to his family, faith and work. Another major award was also presented Thursday. It was the 11th annual Betty Young Friend of the Farmers award. It was presented to Frank Miranda in appreciation of his dedication to the agriculture industry, his significant contributions to pest management and product develoment, his mentorship and leadership roles in the ag industry and community.
