U. S. Border Patrol agents made a big seizure of fentanyl.
Agents at the Pine Valley Border Patrol Checkpoint on Interstate 8 referred a 22-year-old man to secondary inspection. A Border Patrol K-9 Team alerted to the man's vehicle and a search of the trunk of the car led to the discovery of 168 pounds of fentanyl pills. The drugs have an estimated street value of $1.3 million. The driver was turned over to the San Diego Border Crime Suppression Team and the suspect will face state prosecution for the smuggling attempt. The seizure is part of the ongoing Operation Apollo, a joint regional effort involving local, state and federal agencies.
