Kimberly Vega was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after her murder conviction.
Vega was convicted of First Degree Murder for her involvement in the murder of Pablo Dominguez in July of 2021. Vega was positively identified as the person who arranged the murder of Dominguez and provided the gun to the shooter. Vega ws identified through witness statements and surveillance video from businesses in the area of the Crown Motel in El Centro where the murder occurred. According to witnesses, Vega attempted to create an alibi for herself, but then bragged about being responsible for the murder. A second defendant, Athan Estrada is scheduled for sentencing October 7, 2024, after he was convicted of First Degree Murder.
According to the Imperial County District Attorney's Office, they coordinated the investigation with the El Centro Police Department, the U. S. Attorney's Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Yuma County District Attorney's Office and the Kings County Washington Prosecuting Attorney's Office to secure out-of-state witnesses to testify.
