Brawley voters will decide two Measures. Measure L and Measure J. Measure L is a Brawley Elementary School District Measure. It is a $20 million bond to improve the quality of education, make health, safety and handicapped accessibility improvements and construct a gymnasium for school and community use. Measure J would maintain 911 emergency response, fire protection, firefighter paramedics, neighborhood police patrols, gang and drug prevention, keep parks and public areas safe and clean, addressing homelessness, repair streets and roads, potholes, retaining and attracting small businesses, upgrading local water infrastructure and general government use. The measure provides a 1% sales tax increase, providing an estimated $3.8 million annually. Heber Elementary School District has Measure H. It is a $4 million bond for school repairs, classrooms, restrooms roof repair, modernization of classrooms, health, safety and security improvements. Imperial Unified School District has Measure K on the ballot. The $70 million bond measure would provide various school repairs and improvements and provide for an aquatic center and gymnasium for community and school use.. Calipatria has two measure I and M. Measure I asks if City Treasurer should be an appointed position. Measure M asks if City Clerk should be an appointed position. Both are currently elected positions.
