(CHP is ready for 3-day weekend).....Labor Day weekend starts Friday evening.

The California Highway Patrol says they will be ready. The CHP will go into their Maximum Enforcement Period at 6:01 Friday evening. Maximum Enforcement is the CHP holiday program in which they assign as many patrol units as possible to the roadways around the state. The MEP will remain in effect through 11:59 Monday night. The goal is to keep the public as safe as possible on the roadways through the Holiday Period. They will be on the lookout for DUI's, distracted driving, seatbelt violations and any other unsafe driving. Drivers who see an impaired driver, do not hesitate to call 911.
