(July are the latest unemployment numbers available)...The jobless rate is provided by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department.
According to the report, July unemployment came in at 18.7%. That is up from the revised 16.7% released in June and above the year-ago estimate of 17.9%. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.8% for California and 4.5% for the nation during the same period. According to the report, 13,700 eligible workers were unemployed in July out of a labor force of 73,400. Imperial County once again had the highest unemployment rate in the state.
