U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers found 361 pounds of fentanyl and cocaine concealed in a flatbed trailer.
On the morning of August 9, CBP officers at the Otay Mesa Commercial Facility referred a 44-year-old man driving a tractor trailer rig with an empty flatbed trailer, to secondary inspection. Non-intrusive inspection technology screened the vehicle and revealed anomalies in the trailer. A CBP K-9 team alerted to the trailer and a search led to the discovery of 77 packages of cocaine weighing nearly 228 pounds and 50packages of fentanyl powder weighing over 133 pounds. This is the largest CBP California seizure of fentanyl this fiscal year. The driver was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations
