The California Highway Patrol is investigating a Wednesday morning traffic accident.

At about 5:48 a.m. a vehicle went out of control and ended up in a canal at Norrish and Holt Roads. The driver was able to escape from the vehicle before it became fully submerged. The driver told officers that she swerved to avoid an object in the roadway, went out of control, off the road and into the canal. The Imperial County Sherif's Office Dive Team was called in to assist in removing the vehicle from the canal.
