(Report of Shots Fired in Winterhaven)...Imperial County Sheriff's Deputy responded to the call Sunday night.

The report indicated about 15 shots were heard. The Deputy arrived at the area of Cocopah Road and Indian Rock Road. The Deputy conducted a patrol check of a nearby trailer park. He located a Ford pick-up. The pick-up sped off when the driver noticed the Deputy. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, endangering residents of the trailer park. A short pursuit ended after the pick-up got stuck in some dirt. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot. Officers from the Quechan Police arrived and assisted the Deputy in taking down the suspect. Two other subjects were located, and they were arrested along with the driver of the pick-up. A search of the pick-up resulted in the discovery of a 30 round AK-47 magazine and a Ruger Model 10/22 Rifle. The driver and one of the passengers were booked into County Jail, charged with attempted escape from law enforcement, weapons charges and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
