Haystacks are burning in the area of Old Highway 111 and Shartz Road, near Brawley.
The fire was reported Tuesday evening at about 10:15 p.m. Imperial County Fire Department responded to the fire and requested that Old Highway 111 be closed between Schartz Road and Mead Road as the fire continues to burn. The roadway remained closed as of Wednesday morning.
