The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for Yuma and Imperial Counties.
Slightly above normal temperatures will continue through Tuesday and then hotter temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday. NWS says highs may reach 105 - 109 with moderate risk for heat-related illnesses, especially for those without effective cooling or adequate hydration. Temperatures should trend back toward seasonal normals next weekend as a weak weather system will pass through the region. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid-seventies with winds mostly 5 - 10 mph.
