Imperial County Sheriff's deputies made a traffic stop Saturday afternoon and ended with a man in jail.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m., deputies from the Winterhaven substation conducted a traffic stop on Picacho Road near Quechan Drive. After an investigation, and with the assistance of a U. S. Border patrol K-9 team, methamphetamine was found in the vehicle. A further search led to the discovery of a loaded handgun and ammunition. The driver was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession, Transportation and Sales of a Controlled Substance.
