Imperial Irrigation District crews worked through the night to restore power to a portion of El Centro.

The outage was reported Wednesday evening affecting 125 customers. According to the IID the outage was caused by power equipment contacted by a mylar balloon. The district has urged people to not release the mylar balloons as when they contact power lines and transformers, they cause hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of damage to electric distribution systems and affect customers with unnecessary power outages.
