(Tribal Celebration was held Saturday.).....The Tribe was celebrating a March decision by the County Board of Supervisors.

The Quechan Tribe had filed an appeal to a planning commission to permit the Oro Cruz mining project. The project was panned for the area Between Imperial County and Yuma. The Tribe maintained it covered sacred ground and endangered the surrounding wildlife. The Supervisors decision stopped the project, but it did not prohibit the mining company from starting the permit process all over again.
