( Calexico's Recall election was held April 16)....Ballots are being counted. An unofficial tally was issued last Friday.

The ballot asked Calexico voter to choose yes or no to recall City Council Member Raul Ureno. The same question was asked for City Council Member Gilberto Manzanarez. As of the latest update, 72.79% of the voters chose yes for Urena. 71.73% of the voters have chosen yes for Manzanarez. The Ballot count is scheduled to be completed and certified in early March. If the trend continues, the 3 remaining City Council members will have to decide how to fill the vacancies, either by appointment or by another expensive special election. If Urena and Manzanarez are recalled, then all five City Council seats in Calexico will be up for election in November.
