The initial count for the Special Election on the recall of Calexico Council members has been released.

According to the Imperial County Elections Department, voters appear to be in favor of the recall of Raul Urena and Gilberto Manzanares. With slightly over 3,000 vote-by-mail ballots counted when the polls closed at 8:00 p.m., the yes vote to recall Urena is 2,330 and 734 no votes. For the recall of Manzanares, there are 2,287 yes votes and 750 voters said no. Ballots cast in Calexico precincts have yet to be counted.
