(Imperial Irrigation District awarded a grant).....The $7 million grant was awarded by the Department of Interior.

The funds are to support the district's Upstream Operational Reservoir Project. The project will create the largest reservoir constructed by the IID in Imperial Valley. The grant was recently announced by the Department of Interior. They said the funds were coming from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to increase water supply reliability. This grant is in addition to a $9.5 million grant previously awarded to the IID. It brings a total of federal funding for the project to $16.5 million. The new reservoir will have a capacity of 2,100-acre-feet of water.
