(Calipatria City Council appoints an interim Legal Counsel for the city)...The action came at this weeks City Council meeting.

The council agreed to hire Gilbert Otero as the interim legal counsel. Otero had served as the Imperial County District Attorney for 28 years. He decided to not run for re-election in 2022. Otero will serve as interim Legal Counsel in Calipatria until a permanent Attorney is hired. The vacancy was created after William Smerdon left the position.
