Enough signatures have been verified to place a recall vote of two Calexico City Councilmemebers on the March ballot.
Imperial County Registrar of Voters Linsey Dale announced that the verification of signatures on the recall petitions has been completed and there are enough to qualify the recall. The recall was mounted against City Councilmembers Gilberto Manzanarez and Raul Urena. According to Dale, the threshold was set at 4,196 signatures based on 20,982 registered voters. For the recall of Manzanarez, 4,242 qualified signatures were verified. For Urena, 4,288 qualified signatures were counted. Calexico voters will see the issue on the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election ballot.
