President Joe Biden has approved a Major Disaster Declaration for California.

The declaration means that federal disaster assistance has been made available to Imperial County and several other California counties affected by Tropical Storm Hillary that roared through the area August 19 - 21, 2023. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency ( FEMA ), public assistance federal funding is available to state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the storm.
