The Imperial Irrigation Board of Directors have acted to expand financial assistance to more customers.

On Tuesday, the board voted to lower the minimum age requirement for a 30 percent discount for income-qualified customers from age 62 to age 60. Additionally, qualified customers under age 60 can receive a 20 percent discount on their electric bills under the same program, the Residential Energy Assistance Program or REAP. The IID also offers up to $400 a year in financial assistance for REAP customers who face disconnection through the districts Emergency Energy Assistance Program. According to the IID about 12,000 of it's 160,000 metered accounts are enrolled in the REAP program.
