(Governor Gavin Newsom issues a proclamation)....Friday is California POW/MIA Recognition Day.

The proclamation was issued Thursday. It says September 15 is a day to honor the service and scarifice of those who went off to war to defend our safety and freedom, but never returned home. More than 81,000 American service personnel remain missing from World War 2, The Korean and Vietnam wars, Gulf Wars and the war in Afghanistan combined. They are honored by keeping their memories alive, and by contuining to search for the answers their loved ones deserve. A POW/MIA Flag will be flown over the Capital, as well as government buildings and businesses.
