A vehicle fire led to a brush fire and the brush fire led to a closure of Interstate 8 near Boulevard.

A pick up truck towing an RV caught fire. The fire was reported at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday on westbound Interstate 8 near Boulevard. The flames quickly spread to brush along the highway and caused the westbound lanes to be shut down for over three hours. The pick up and RV were totally destroyed by the fire. One lane of the freeway was reopened at about 7:30 p.m. while the other lanes was kept closed for crews to remove the damaged vehicles.
