A burglary suspect is in custody after being found inside a Calexico store.

Calexico Police officers were conducting a crime suppression detail on Monday night. The detail was made up of the regular on-duty shift supplemented by additional officers. While patrolling a Calexico shopping center, one of the officers noticed a shattered window to a business. The officer then realized that there was a man inside the store and a burglary was in progress. Just seconds later the suspect came out through the shattered window carrying merchandise from the business. A brief foot chase resulted in the arrest of 18-year-old Jesus Petino. Petino was also a person of interest in a burglary that occurred the day before. Petino was charged with several felonies and booked into Imperial County Jail.
