(Colorado River Board of California meets in Ontario)...IID Director JB Hamby was elected as the Board's new Chairman Wednesday.
Hamby, the Vice President of the Imperial Irrigation District Directors, has served on the Colorado River Board of California since April 2021. He becomes the fourth IID member to be chsoen Chairman of the Colorado River Board. The first ever Chairman of the Colorado River Board of California was IID Division 1 Director Evan T. Hewe in 1938. As Chairman, Hamby will serve ex-oficio as the Colorado River Commissioner for the state of California. The commissioner is responsible for conferring with representatives of the seven Colorado Basin States and United States on the use of Colorado River water and safeguarding to rights and interests of the state, its agencies and citizens, pursuant to the federal Boulder Canyon Act and the California Water Code.
