A woman died when the Can-Am Maverick Off Road Vehicle (ORV) she was driving crashed on Christmas Day.

The accident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. in the area of Avenue D and County 20th Street. According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, the ORV was in a desert area  when the driver, 21-year-old Kenia Pardo Arreola, of Yuma, lost control during a turn causing the vehicle to roll over. Arreola was ejected from the Can-Am and was pinned under the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at he scene. Arreola was not wearing a seatbelt or wearing a helmet when the accident occurred. A passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. The accident remains under investigation.
