KXO & KXO-FM Annual EEO Public File Report:

The purpose of the EEO Public File Report (“Report”) is to comply with Section 73.2080(c)(6) of the FCC’s EEO Rule.  This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following stations: KXO and KXO-FM in El Centro, California and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and posted on their website, if they have a website.

The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning July 16th, 2019 to and including July 15th, 2020 (the “Applicable Period”).  This report may be filed before July 15th, 2020.  However, due to circumstances more fully described below, there will be no recruitment between the filing date and July 15th, 2020.

The FCC’s EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:

A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Stations comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period;

For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the EEO Rule, which should be separately identified) identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number;

The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period;

Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and

A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(2) of the FCC rules.

Appendices 1, 2, and 3, which follow, have been designed, in the aggregate, to provide the required information.  Please note that the numbers listed on Appendix 2 under the column entitled “Full-time Positions for Which This Source Was Utilized” refer to the number of the full-time job positions listed on Appendix 1.

For purposes of this Report, a vacancy was deemed “filled” not when the offer was extended, but when the hiree accepted the job offer.  A person was deemed “interviewed” whether he or she was interviewed in person and/or over the telephone.

Annual EEO Public File Report

Covering the Period from July 16th, 2019 to July 15th, 2020

Comprising Station Employment Unit: KXO and KXO-FM

Section 3: Supplemental (Non-Vacancy Specific) Recruitment Activities Undertaken by KXO and KXO-FM.

Imperial Valley College 2019 Career Fair/ College and University Day was held on Thursday, September 26th, 2019 from 9:00 am ‘til 12:00 pm inside and outside the college gym.  Over 50 employers, 25 colleges and universities participated.  Over 2000 college students, high school seniors, and community members attended the event.

Gene Brister, President and General Manager of KXO, set up a table display in the gym.  The booth featured descriptions of all job possibilities at the stations, requirements and responsibilities.  He discussed all job descriptions with all interested parties.  He explained we had no job openings at the present time, but individuals were welcome to drop off resumes at our booth or drop by our studios and fill out a job application, resume and place it on file.  Traffic was strong at our booth.  We had just over 200 people visit with us.  The most popular part of our display was a looped video that showed the many special events we are involved in and our stations rich Imperial Valley history.

KXO and KXO-FM co-sponsored the entire Imperial Valley College 2019 Career Fair/College and University Day event.

With rare exception, other career fairs are held in Imperial County each year in the spring time.  We were looking forward to getting invitations to several this spring and then the Corona Virus Pandemic hit here in the early part of March.  To say the least, not one career day of any kind has been held or scheduled to date and nothing is on the horizon.  We are under orders to “Shelter In Place,” wear a mask, and practice social distancing if you have to go out.

On Friday, May 17th, 2019 KXO President and General Manager, Gene Brister, was a participant in the Brawley Union High School District, “Wildcats Reaching Higher Career Fair” hosted by the Board of Trustees, Administrators, Counselors, Staff and Students.  The event was held on the high school campus beginning 7:30 a.m. and concluding at 11:45 a.m.  We had over 125 students interact with us talking about radio broadcasting career opportunities.  We explained we had no job openings at the present time, but encouraged the students to fill out an application and leave a resume at our booth or drop by our studios and fill out a job application and leave a resume.

El Centro, California - The Ronald McDonald House of San Diego provides a “home away from home” for families with children being treated for serious, often life-threatening conditions at San Diego hospitals.  More than 25 percent of families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego live in the Imperial Valley.
