(Unemployment up slightly)…The latest numbers are for May. The Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department recently released the report for Imperial County. According to the report, unemployment in May was 15.8 percent. That is up from the revised 14.6 percent reported in April, and below the year ago estimate of 17.7 percent. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 3.7 percent for the state and 3.6 percent for the nation during the same period. The report indicates 11,200 eligible workers were unemployed in May, out of a Labor Force of 71,200.
