(August Unemployment report released)....The numbers for August are the latest available.
They were released Friday morning. The unemployment report is released by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. Imperial County unemployment for August was 16.2%. That is up from a revised 14.4% in July, but below the year ago estimate of 19.4%. This compares with an unadjusted rate of 4.1% for the state and 3.8% for the nation during the same period. According to the August report there were 11,400 eligible workers unemployed out of a labor force of 70,500. Imperial County has the highest unemployment in the state.
