(Mexican Independence Day is September 16)....The Country celebrates for two days, September 15 and 16.

The Mexican Consuate in Calexico and the City of El Centro are offering a special event on September 17. El Grito De Independencia will be held in Bucklin Park in El Centro from 6 to 10 pm. The event will honor Mexican Cultural icon Frida Kahlo, with Frida Kahlo photography and a Frida and Diego look a likje contest. The event will also feature Los Aferrados De La Sierra. There will also be dancing, food vendors, loteria, kiuds activities and more. The event will be hoisted by Gerardo Venegas. For more information contact El Centro Parks and Recreation.
