(Tropicle Storm Kay gets an assist)...The Fairview Fire in Riverside County has been burning since September 5.

Fire crews were having a difficult time fighting the fire in the dense brush near Hemet. Before Friday, Cal Fire reported only 5% containment. Then came the storm. The fire had burned 28,307 acres. In their Saturday morning report, Cal Fire said moisture from the storm has greatly reduced fire activity. Contaiment is now at 40%. There have been 2 fatalities as a result of the fire and one injury. The fire has destroyed 13 structures and damaged 4 others. Evacuationbs are still in place, and two animal shelters have been set-up. At last report there were 2,241 personnel on scene, including a Task Force from Imperial County.
