(Air Pollution Control Officer is retiring)...Matt Dessert has been the APCO since 2017.
Today, he is retiring from his County Service. Dessert has served almost two decades with the County. There was a break in his tenure with the county when he was elected to the Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors. He returned to the county in January 2017 to become the Air Pollution Control Officer. Belen Leon Lopez has been appointed to serve as the Interim APCO, beginning Friday. Leon Lopez has been with the APCD for nearly 15 years, beginning as an APCD Specialist and working her way up to Assistant Air Pollution Control Officer, the position she currently holds. She is a lifelong Imperial County resident. She graduated from Central Union High School. She currently lives in Heber with her husband and two children. Leon Lopez received her Bachelors of Business Administration from Devry University and her Masters of Science degree in Environmental Policy through Kaplan University
