(Abandoned building burns)...The fire was reported in Calexico.

A Calexico firefighter noticed the fire as he drove to work at just before 7 Thursday morning. Ihe fire was located at 3rd and Rockwood in Calexico. The building had housed the Fiesta Restaurant, before the business left. Both Calexico Fire Stations responded to the fire. Officials say the building was unsafe, and crews fought the fire in a defensive posture, not wanting to risk injury to any of the crew. Public works was eventually called in to knock down the structure, making it impossible for anyone to inhabit the building. They said the building had attracted many homeless people, and it is believed one of them may have started the fire. No injuries were reported.
