The numbers come from the County Public Health Department. According to the new numbers, there are currently 1,071 active COVID 19 cases in Imperial County, as compared to 911 cases reported last week. The increased numbvers are attribvuted to the predicted 4th of July surge, and the new Omicron variant. The Center For Disease Control and Prevention says the new variant is not as severe as the previous varient, but it is much more contagious. Hospitalizations in Imperial County attributed to the virus are now at 19, 7 are in Intensive Care. New Cases per day per 100,000 are now at 52.30, with a positivity rate of 40.2%.
