(Next week's Calexico City Council meeting may draw a crowd)....Several residents are unhappy with an action taken last week.

Last week the council voted to allow Mayor Javier Moreno continue to serve another term as Mayor. The vote was 3-2, with Mayor Pro tem Camilo Garcia and Couyncilmember Rosie Arreola Fernando voting against the motion made by Council member Raul Urena. A few days after that meeting, former Calexico Police Chief Gonzalo Gerardo posted a resolution on Facebook. The resolution was dated December 20, 2011, and it adopted the rotation policy as it pertained to the Calexico Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem. In the post the retired Chief said what the Council did at the July 6 meeting was wrong. He called on the Council members who had signed the 2011 resolution to step up and fight for what they had voted on. The post said they needed to demand that the process is respected and they need to put an end to dishonest practices. Several residents supported the comments from the former Chief.
