(El Centro is cracking down on illegal fireworks)....The El Centro City Council recently amended the cities Fireworks Ordinance.

The amended ordinance is in effect. The revised ordinance is being enforced to deter and prevent the use of illegal and dangerous fireworks within the city limits. Property owners should familiarize themselves with the revised ordinance, as it makes property owners responsible for any illegal use of fireworks on or adjacent to their property. Civil and criminal penalties may be impose if cited by police or Fire personnel. The Police and Fire Departments will deploy additional personnel during the 4th of July Holiday to help educate and enforce the revised ordinance. Residents are reminded to only purchase andd enjoy Safe and Sane Fireworks during the 4th of July Holiday, and only purchase them from approved vendors within the city limits.
