Final results from the June 7, 2022, Primary Election are a bit closer.

According to the Imperial County Registrar of Voters, approximately 800 provisional ballots remaining to be counted. Provisional ballots are cast a polling places on Election Day. The procedure for tallying provisional ballots is lengthy and takes longer to verify because of numerous checks involved. Provisional ballots are counted after all voter rosters are reviewed and the voter's history is applied to the voter's record, and that requires additional steps. 

A Thursday update shows winners in some races can be projected. Judge Jeffrey Jones, Jesus Eduardo Escobar will be re-elected to County Board of Supervisors. Robert Menvielle will continue as County Assessor. Chuck Storey re-elected Clerk-Recorder. Fred Miramontes will win the race for Sheriff. IID Division 5 will see Karin Eugenio replacing Norma Sierra Galindo. The District Attorney race will go to November with Mario Vela leading with 33% of the vote followed by George Marquez with 28%. IID Director Division 3 is also headed to the November ballot. Gina Dockstader has 1,465 votes, Don Campbell 796 votes and Ram Castro still in reach with 778 votes. John Hawk and Raymond Castillo will apparently meet on the November ballot. Hawk has 1,584 votes, 47.99%, to Castillo's 1,109 votes, 33.60%. The closest race is for IID Division 1 where incumbent Alex Cardenas leads Andrew Arevalo 1,869 to 1,830. The next update will be issued once all provisional are verified, processed, and tabulated.
