U. S. Customs and Border Protection has released operational statistics for May 2022.
According CBP, there were a total of nearly 240,000 encounters along the southwest land border in May, a 2 percent increase compared to April. Twenty-five percent involved individuals who had at least one prior encounter in the previous 12 months. 69% of all southwest land border encounters were single adults. There were 9,850 encounters involving family units. Encounters of unaccompanied children averaged 692 per day in May with a total of 14,699 for the month. According to CBP, single adults and family units encountered at the Southwest Border will continue to be expelled under Title 42.
