A man attempting to smuggle undocumented individuals was also found to be in possession of a stolen gun.

The 26-year-old U.S. citizen was arrested at the Highway 111 immigration checkpoint north of Niland Tuesday evening. The man and his 4 passengers were referred to secondary inspection where it was determined all 4 passengers were in this country illegally. A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded Glock 27 handgun that had been reported stolen in Las Vegas, Nevada. The driver is facing federal charges.
